DIA - Get Involved

Recipients for the following DIA Awards are selected annually:   

  • DIA Distinguished Career Award
  • DIA Service Awards
    • DIA Excellence in Volunteer Leadership Award
    • DIA Founders Service Award
    • DIA Outstanding Service Award 
    • DIA Community Award
  • Drug Information Journal Awards
    • Donald E. Francke Award for Overall Excellence
    • The Drug Information Journal Student Award
    • The Thomas W. Teal Award

Candidates DIA Distinguished Career Award are nominated and selected by the DIA Board of Directors.  This award is bestowed by the DIA Board of Directors on an individual with a distinguished career in the discovery, development, regulation, surveillance, or marketing of pharmaceuticals or related products who has shown extraordinary service and dedication to the advancement of healthcare through career contributions to pharmaceutical and related industries that benefit industry, government and the patient. 

Nominations for DIA Service Awards begin with a Call for Awards Nominations that is sent to all members in August/September.  The submission deadline is in October/November. The nominees are reviewed by the Awards Committee led by the President Elect of the DIA Board of Directors.  The winners for these prestigious awards are approved by the Board in December.  DIA invites you to recognize your colleagues' contributions to DIA by responding to the Call for Awards Nominations and submitting a nomination for a valued colleague for one of the following DIA Service Awards:

  • DIA Excellence in Volunteer Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding effective leadership during their dedicated and extensive voluntary service to the DIA for 10 years or more and who has made consistent and significant contributions to the Association, not only as a volunteer, but as a volunteer-leader in various DIA roles. 
  • DIA Founders Service Award is the highest recognition for volunteerism in the DIA organization, recognizing those individuals who have contributed to the advancement of the mission, vision and values of the DIA and fostered its growth and development through their dedicated and sustained volunteerism.
  • DIA Outstanding Service Award recognizes those individuals who consistently, through their volunteer efforts, have made contributions to the DIA mission and vision over the past several years and exceeded expectations in their volunteer activities with DIA.
  • DIA Community Award recognizes a particular community that has demonstrated its ability to be instrumental in fostering the professional growth of their constituents while also advancing the mission, vision and overall goals of DIA.

Candidates for the following Drug Information Journal Awards are nominated and selected by the Drug Information Journal Editorial Board:

  • The Donald E. Francke Award for Overall Excellence in journal publishing
  • The Drug Information Journal Student Award, for excellence in publishing by a student contributor
  • The Thomas W. Teal Award for excellence in statistics publishing
